My reading habits, however, are pretty much the opposite. I have read some really interesting non-fiction in 2009, but fiction is where it's really at. That's why I write stories and novels. My new release, Angela 1: Starting Over, is the first of three novels set in a coastal Texs high school. The setting and action are realistic but the danger is every bit as tension-making as the most fantastic or speculative fiction. And you did all that c...I'm so impressed Lula. And you did all that canning as well. Maybe if you hadn't done that batch of mustard pickles you'd have gotten to 100 books. But then we wouldn't have our mustard pickles!!<br /><br />Here's my breakdown:<br />Of 50 books read<br />29 were juvenile literature (as classified by the ALA)<br />15 I read with my kids<br />1 was non-fiction<br /><br />There were several that I LOVED--among those were Rebecca, the whole Percy Jackson series, These Is My Words, and A Crooked Kind of Perfect.<br /><br />Those I really disliked included The Shack, The Ultimate Gift and Twenties Girl.<br /><br />I'm amazed at myself for how much I read this year. Next year my goal is to broaden my horizons and read a little non-fiction, and I will add to my list one of your favorites you mentioned.<br /><br />Thanks for your hard work on this blog.
