I think I've died and gone to heaven...

Amazon comes out with the Kindle 2: its new wireless reading device on Feb. 24 of this year. Cost: $359.oo and I'm dying to get one. Totally saving my pennies here. Books are $9.99 or less from a library of 230,000. Holy cow! It saves paper. It comes with a light and I'm pretty sure you can take notes on it. Check out the site to see its many possibilities. It's awesome!

What fun, I totally want one. I just wish they weren't so expensive, but still, think of the trees it could save.

Anybody else thinking about it?
Or does the thought of losing the nostalgia of holding a thick pad of ink and paper in your hands still hold on too tight?

What about that new book smell? I might miss that too.
Hmm...I don't know. I think I want one....bad.

These do look pretty cool. Who will I borrow my books from if you get one? :) I do think it will be an adjustment to use one. I think I would miss an actual book, but I bet you will get over that very quickly because of it's awesomeness. :)

Yeah, I want one. But I'm not sure if it's because I'd love it, or because I'm a sucker for technology. No reading in the tub though, eh?

Okay, Tiff just got one of these for her birthday! Dang, I'm jealous! I'm hoping to schedule a visit soon so I may get the scoop. I'm dying to get my hands on one.

FYI - no light.(not backlit) You need light to read on it. But you can make notes or highlight passages to review for book club etc. on each page.(or just list them) It uses E-ink technology which basically uses very little energy.(Very easy to read in daylight) This allows up to 4 days reading with wireless on, Or if you turn wireless off you can read up to 2 weeks. Also, it uses Amazon's whispernet which is basically Sprint’s national high-speed (EVDO) data network to connect and browse for new books or the web. (like cell phone coverage-but free!) So if you're on the beach, or in the mountains and you finish a book, you simply download a new book in >60 seconds. You can also email yourself .pdf, word, text files and Amazon will convert for only .10 cents and send to your Kindle. -Chris
