What are you reading Mondays

I wished I had time to sit and read like this girl in the photo. Is she on the subway? In the park? On her lunch break at work? It must be the subway or on a bus because that guy next to her is really close. Eww. Hope he doesn't smell funny.

When do I read? Whenever I get the chance. While I'm eating is probably the most popular. In fact, my food digests better if I'm reading a good book. Otherwise, I'd probably starve! At least that's what I keep telling Eric when he looks at me like I'm a weirdo. He does that a lot.

I've just finished this week-

The Wives of Henry the VIII - by Antonia Fraser.

An excellent book if you're a fan of this time period at all. Many details. Very informative. I'll review it tomorrow.

These Old Shades - by Georgette Heyer.

As always, I'm gushing. I really liked this book. Regency romance at its finest. If your heart quivers for subjects like disguise, hand and finger kissing, men that wear wigs and make-up, dashing heroes that always get their man, and words like my dear, my infant and I worship the ground you walk on, you'll like this book. In fact you'll like any Heyer book as she's mastered the pistol, sword play, kidnapping, and the art of female rescue to such a fine point in her pen that my heart melts with each passing word. See, now I too am lost in the language. Sigh, it's a hopeless case.

What I'm currently reading -

The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde. Meet Thursday Next, or Stephanie Plum with a really cool name. Really liked this one so far.

Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. Of course fantastic!

Listening to: Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince by JK Rowling. Seriously it makes cooking in this heat that much easier.

What are you reading? What have you just finished? See here for other what are you reading Mondays. Have a great week!

She's on a subway. I could never read in a crowd. Guess that's why I like audio books. I use them for public use...lol!

I bet the Harry Potter series is fun on audio.

Hi J. Kaye! You have the best icon. I love that old bat. I can't read while on the move or I'd throw up for sure! That'll teach that guy to sit so close.

Listening to Harry Potter is extremely fun. (Note I'm taking a cue from Rowling and employing a swimmingly good adverb here.)

It really brings the characters to life, especially since so much is left out of the movies.

LOLOL! And the sad part is, we look very much alike. Just add 100 pounds - okay, 130 to Maxine and you have J. Kaye. :)

The Eyre Affair is fantastic, I've been meaning to reread it so I can continue with the series.

I've just bought my first iPod and have entered the wonderful world of audiobooks, it's really a fantastic way to do my chores and still read at the same time. I also have Harry Potter in my audio pile, it's read by Stephen Fry whom I adore.

J. Kaye - Well..Maxine probably only weighs 75 pounds (If you don't count those boobs of hers. If only we all could discount that weight);P

Ana O - I'm really liking The Eyre Affair. Very witty and fun. I love English lit. They never waste any words do they.

Bluestocking - I couldn't get your list to pull up. My computer is from the stone age, and requires bits of encouragement will it hums away in distress. You can do it little computer. Smack! No wonder it doesn't work too good..

I just finished the 7th Harry Potter book yesterday. Loved it of course. Even more than the first time I read it. I am bummed I am done with the series now. :( It really is a great series!

I am now reading The Historian. I started this months ago but it got put on the side burner while I tried to finish the HP series before the movie came out. So, now I am back to it. I am liking it so far. It was a little slow at first but it seems to be picking up now.

This week, the only book I finished was Only in Death, a science fiction novel about war in the distant future. Most people will be able to figure out if they'll like it or not from that description alone!

I just started City of Bones which my cousin loaned me and said I simply must read.

I read The Historian last year and can't wait to read what you think of it, Bryce and Mandy.

Thanks for stopping by Miss Cindy. You have a cute blog.

Mandy - I'm looking forward to reading The Historian. I wonder why they haven't made a movie out of that. It sounds like it would be a good one.

Stephanie - Ah, City of Bones. Can't wait to hear what you say about that one. Be prepared for lots of worded emphasis, and vampires, werewolves, zombies, Voldermort, er, no, etc.

Hi Mary and Maree. :D
Just finished The Eyre Affair. It was excellent. The Plum Series is one of my favorites, and the similarities between the main character's is immense. Both are somewhat hilarious. Both are witty and clever when solving their crimes. Both are surrounded my idiots.

This one is the first of a four part series. If you like alternate history and Stephanie Plum, you'll probably like The Eyre Affair. Thanks for stopping by!
