Woo-hoo. 97 books read this year. Messy house and all. But who am I kidding? It would've been messy anyway, so why not enjoy myself a little. So instead of cleaning, cooking, bathing...I took much remembered trips back in time to Germany during WWII, the court of Henry the VIII, colonial New England, and pioneer Arizona. I went to Hogwarts and knitting clubs, high school with werewolves and time jumping hot guys, and a smoldering vampire viking named Eric. I discovered one of my all time favorite authors. It's been a great year for reading at least.Some stats

Very impressive stats - and diverse favorites! I have no idea how many books I've read, but I know it's nowhere near as many as yours.
Of course you beat me.And my house is probably just as messy as yours. I read about the same as I did last year. I read 67 books this year with maybe one more before the new year.

I'm so impressed Lula. And you did all that canning as well. Maybe if you hadn't done that batch of mustard pickles you'd have gotten to 100 books. But then we wouldn't have our mustard pickles!!
Here's my breakdown:
Of 50 books read
29 were juvenile literature (as classified by the ALA)
15 I read with my kids
1 was non-fiction
There were several that I LOVED--among those were Rebecca, the whole Percy Jackson series, These Is My Words, and A Crooked Kind of Perfect.
Those I really disliked included The Shack, The Ultimate Gift and Twenties Girl.
I'm amazed at myself for how much I read this year. Next year my goal is to broaden my horizons and read a little non-fiction, and I will add to my list one of your favorites you mentioned.
Thanks for your hard work on this blog. It's a lot of fun to read.
And a little bird (or should I say a beehive) told me you have a goal to finish a project by this summer--which I can't wait to read. :)

I have no idea where you find the time to do what you do. :) You are much more diverse in your reading then I am. I'm not so brave. I finished out the year with 40. Much better then last year!
My favorites: The Percy Jackson series, Angels and Demons, and The Lost City of Z.
My least favorite: The Actor and the Housewife
In the book business they say they sell 10 non-fiction books for every book of fiction. My reading habits, however, are pretty much the opposite. I have read some really interesting non-fiction in 2009, but fiction is where it's really at. That's why I write stories and novels. My new release, Angela 1: Starting Over, is the first of three novels set in a coastal Texs high school. The setting and action are realistic but the danger is every bit as tension-making as the most fantastic or speculative fiction.
